Position: Jazz, Improv, and Traditional Piano Instructor

Education:
Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance (2007)
FORT LEWIS COLLEGE, Durango, Colorado

Teaching Experiance

I started teaching in early 2000 in Boulder, Colorado. In 2003 I started to teach in Durango, CO with only a few students to start there is now a 50 student base I teach per week.

I ensure every student learns the music (or style) they want to learn not what others expect of them to learn. I focus on the basics for reading music as well as music "by rote" and a strong focus on music theory for a good solid foundation to work off of.

I expect students to come prepared and to ask any questions whenever they arise.

Some key tips for students and their parents are:

- Repetition (7 times perfect will stick)
- Practice time every day
- Find the musical pattern!
- If it sounds good play it
- Have fun!
